Free Global Health E-Books

Fellow USF student and good personal friend Erika sent an email letting me know about Hesperian Publishers, a nonprofit organization that publishes health care manuals aimed at rural developing communities. The books (available in English, Spanish, and other languages) can be purchased online and many can be downloaded free of charge.

The books offer step-by-step, illustrated instructions in clear, simple language. Though they are intended for developing nations, much of the content is helpful for individuals in Western nations as well. I've just downloaded HIV, Health, and Your Community, Where There Is No Doctor, and A Book for Midwives, and I'm putting several of the ones not available for download onto my Peace Corps wishlist.
